Over the past four plus decades, W.O.M.A.N., Inc. has worked tirelessly to support tens of thousands of people impacted by domestic violence. The community plays an important role in our ability to show up, day in and day out, for survivors and their supporters. Proceeds of the evening will support services like the 24/7 support line, therapy, community education, Domestic Violence Information and Referral Center, and more.

Hear from our Executive Director, Jill Zawisza, as we celebrate the milestone of completing our recently published Theory of Change, which will serve as our North Star for years to come.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
While we embrace all people of all ages, this is a 21+ venue.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Monroe is a 20 min. bus ride or 0.8 flat walk from the Montgomery or Embarcadero Station. There are parking lot options across the street and within a block radius. We encourage rideshare or public transportation for your convenience and safety.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Please bring a printed or mobile ticket to the event to show at the door.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
All ticket sales are final and tickets are transferable.

¿Hay una edad mínima para entra al evento?

Nos gustaría tener personas de todas edades, pero el local sólo permite personas de 21 años y más

¿Cuales son mis opciones de transporte ó estacionamiento para llegar al evento?

Monroe queda a 0.8 millas de las estaciones de BART Montgomery ó Embarcadero. Puede caminar ó tomar un camión MUNI por 20 minutos. Hay un estacionamiento público (de paga) cruzando la calle del local, y dentro de una cuadra.

Dismantling & Rebuilding: An Evening for Stronger, Safer Communities

The W.O.M.A.N., Inc. Board of Directors warmly invites you to Dismantling & Rebuilding: An Evening for Stronger, Safer Communities. We’re celebrating our Executive Director Jill Zawisza’s 20 years of leadership in the domestic violence field and her 10th anniversary with W.O.M.A.N., Inc.

Dismantling & Rebuilding is about anti-oppression, intersectional feminism, collaboration across difference, and holding collective power. Inspired by Audre Lorde’s observation that “the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house,” the event promotes stronger, safer communities rooted in intersectionality and inclusion.

Join us for art, music, drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction in an intimate gallery space. Meet our Board, our volunteers, and our incredible staff of seven who provide crisis line, therapeutic, and other supports to survivors of domestic violence in the Bay Area and beyond.

Support W.O.M.A.N., Inc. – 2016 Allstate Purple Purse Challenge

W.O.M.A.N., Inc. has been selected again to participate in The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge! Last year, this campaign raised nearly $3.1 million for DV organizations across the nation & we’re going to be apart of that effort for the 2nd year in a row.

So here’s the deal: The Purple Purse Challenge is a fundraising campaign launched by The Allstate Foundation where DV organizations compete to raise the most money during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The top team wins a grand prize cash donation of $100,000 from The Allstate Foundation. We are one of 250 agencies selected throughout the U.S., so this is a pretty cool opportunity!

It starts on September 28th at 9am PST and, this year, more than $650,000 will be given away to participating organizations in the Challenge. We’d get big monetary prizes for placing in the top 5 and opportunities to win prizes during the weekly bonus challenges that happen throughout the month. On top of all of that, we get to keep 100% of all the funds we raise in the process. Pretty dang sweet.

How You Can Help: Join Our Team, Become a Fundraiser!

Please consider joining our team as a fundraiser. By reaching out to your network of supporters, you can help us make an even bigger impact. You’d be helping us increase our visibility, raise awareness for domestic violence and fund our awesome programs!

It takes less than five minutes to set up a fundraiser. All you have to do is Go Here and click ‘Fundraise for This Campaign.’

Once you join the team, you have the option to personalize your page with a story and photos to illustrate why our cause is important to you. Then, when the Challenge starts on September 28th, share it with your people and start garnering support! Just the simple act of joining our team, gives us the opportunity to qualify for the first bonus challenge. Not only would this be a much appreciated effort to support us, there will be donation incentives and/or giveaways as the challenge progresses, so stay tuned!

Losangmonlam Art Exhibition Opening & Benefit

Bow Wow Bonanza! Our 3rd Annual Doggie Meet Up

The Bow Wow Bonanza is back in action!!! After organizing and settling on a location change, we are SO excited to announce that we’ve got a permit secured and a space reserved at the beautiful Lake Merritt Amphitheater!

Calling all animal lovers, advocates and do-gooders alike! Please join us on Sunday, October 18th with your pets, friends and/or family members at this FUNdraiser benefiting W.O.M.A.N., Inc. The Bow Wow Bonzanza not only highlights the correlation between pet abuse and domestic violence but also that pets make great companions for the self-care, recovery, and healing of domestic abuse survivors. All proceeds go towards the W.O.M.A.N., Inc. pet fund which will help survivors pay for away-hotels, veterinary costs, and pet food when in need. Join the community and their beloved animal friends at the Bow Wow Bonanza!

Be sure your animal pals are dressed to impress because the PUParazzi will be in full swing! There will also be some great prizes for your best dressed companions & for generous humans who decide to donate to the pet fund ahead of time. Team W.O.M.A.N., Inc. | 2015 Allstate Purple Purse Challenge

We’re super excited to announce that we were chosen to be apart of The Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge, a fundraising campaign launched by The Allstate Foundation to raise awareness about financial abuse and to promote economic empowerment. As one of ~160 domestic violence agencies throughout the nation chosen to participate, it is HUGE that we were selected. This is an amazing opportunity to fund raise and increase visibility and awareness.

It all starts on October 1st and to give back, they’ll be donating $495,000 to organizations focused on ending domestic violence and assisting survivors with financial independence. The organization that raises the most during the Challenge will get a $100,000 donation* to their cause. Second place gets $75,000, third gets $50,000, fourth gets $25,000 and fifth place gets a $20,000 donation. We’re ready to raise as much money as possible and we really need your help to make it happen.

How You Can Help

1) Become a Fundraiser
It would be so amazing if our incredible supporters became fundraisers. By setting up a fundraiser for our cause and reaching out to your network of supporters, imagine the impact we can have.

Once you start your fundraiser, make sure to update it with the story of why you’re one of our biggest supporters.
